Recently in my Design Research + Integration class, we did an exercise in which we rearranged elements of movie posters to create a “hierarchy” of information that most successfully conveyed the message of the movie to the viewer. During this exercise, the element of constructing the “hierarchy” that most stood out to me, was the typography. The typography had the ability to totally alter the feel of the information being conveyed, whether due to the typeface, the size of the words, or the grid in which they were displayed.

I have started to keep this discovery in mind as I embark on new design projects.
